What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.

In addition to cookies, we also use browser storage technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage to persist certain settings — these are described in the tables below alongside HTTP cookies.

How we use cookies

We group our cookies into four categories. Only strictly necessary cookies are set without asking your permission. All others — functional, analytics, and third-party cookies — are only activated after you provide explicit consent via our cookie banner.

Strictly necessaryRequired

These cookies are essential for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled.

Strictly necessary cookies enable core functionality such as security, network management, and account access. The platform cannot function properly without these cookies, and they can only be disabled by changing your browser settings.

mw-auth (zustand)christianmatrimony.comPersists auth state (user object, token) in localStorage so the page does not re-request on every load.PersistentLocalStorage

__Host-next-auth.csrf-tokenchristianmatrimony.comCSRF protection token used to validate form submissions.SessionHTTP
Functional

Functional cookies remember your preferences and personalise your experience, such as keeping UI state between visits.

These cookies allow the platform to remember choices you make (such as your denomination filter, search radius, or profile visibility settings) so you do not have to re-enter them every time you visit. The information they collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your activity on other websites.

Analytics

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the platform so we can improve performance and features.

We use Google Analytics 4 (if configured by your tenant) to collect aggregated, anonymised data about how pages are used — which pages are popular, how users navigate, and where they encounter problems. This data is never sold to third parties and is used solely to improve the platform.

Third-party

Third-party cookies are set by external services embedded in the platform, such as fonts, maps, or video players.

When you visit pages that include content from external providers (Google Fonts, embedded videos, or social sharing widgets), those providers may set their own cookies. We do not control these cookies. You can opt out of third-party cookies by adjusting your browser settings or using the opt-out links provided by each provider.

Your choices

Cookie banner

When you first visit the platform, we show a cookie consent banner. You can accept all, reject non-essential, or choose specific categories. You can revisit this choice at any time via the link in our footer.

Browser settings

Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in. Refer to your browser's help documentation for instructions.

Google Analytics opt-out

If analytics cookies are enabled and you wish to opt out of Google Analytics tracking specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
